See information from the BOA Below about this.
The UK surgical workforce census is still open and if you have not already completed the survey, please do so no later than 13th June 2023. The census has been designed by the Royal College of Surgeons of England – and is supported by sister Royal Colleges in Edinburgh and Glasgow and other Surgical Specialty Associations (SSAs) including the BOA.
I am keen that our members contribute to this important initiative. Your answers will inform our engagement and lobbying of the UK governments and NHS bodies to address the significant workforce planning and other key challenges facing surgical teams. Your responses will provide a trusted source of current data to evidence our activities on behalf of the surgical workforce.
The key results will be presented in a report to be published by the end of 2023. In addition to a report, the RCS England will release a census toolkit which will allow users to interact with the data to review it independently.
The census will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Using a combination of binary answers, drop down boxes and free text, the census will cover 3 subject areas:
- surgical workforce and activity / job plans
- demographics
- job satisfaction and well-being linked to working conditions
We want to hear from:
- Consultants
- SAS/Specialist surgeons
- Locally employed surgeons
- Core and higher trainees
- Extended surgical care team members, including
- Advanced Clinical Practitioner
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner
- Operating Department Assistant
- Physician Associate
- Surgical Advanced Clinical Practitioner
- Surgical Care Practitioner
