Conference venue
The BORS conference will be hosted at the University of Sheffield on 9th and 10th September 2024. We will be hosting it at The Edge, with accommodation close by at The Jonas Hotel and Halifax Hall. We have an excellent bus and tram service to explore the city, and there is lots of nice accommodation centrally (you’re after the number 40 to get to The Edge from the city centre).
Fun facts about Sheffield
- Sheffield has the highest ratio of trees to people in Europe, with over two million across the city
- Sheffield manufactured all the steel used in New Yorks Brooklyn Bridge
- We are home to two of the world’s oldest football teams – from the 1850s!
- Ponds Forge International Sports Centre has an Olympic-sized swimming pool and has hosted the World Student Games, the European Aquatics Champs, and the European Water Polo Champs.
- We have produced world class musicians including Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard and The Human League
