The British Orthopaedic Research Society (BORS) is a multidisciplinary association devoted to facilitating collaboration in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal research.

The British Orthopaedic Research Society (BORS) Annual Meeting 2026 will take place on 8–9 September 2026 at the Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC) at the University of Strathclyde, located in the centre of Glasgow.

BORS 2026 will be a pan-Glasgow meeting, organised by a cross-institutional committee representing:

  • University of Strathclyde
  • University of Glasgow
  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • NHS Golden Jubilee
  • The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Each institution will lead a dedicated scientific session, highlighting the breadth of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic research taking place across the region.

The BORS Annual Meeting traditionally attracts a balanced audience of practising orthopaedic surgeons and academic researchers, creating a highly translational environment that fosters collaboration between clinicians, scientists, engineers, and industry partners.

The theme of this year’s meeting is Translational Orthopaedic Research, and we welcome submissions spanning the full breadth of musculoskeletal research, from fundamental science to clinical application.

Submission guidelines

  • Maximum 300 words
  • One figure permitted per abstract

Opportunities

  • 4 presentation prizes (see below)
  • 10 travel awards for eligible presenters

Registration

  • 1 June 2026 – Registration opens
  • 21 August 2026 – Registration closes

Awards
BORS offers a number of awards at the Annual Meeting to recognise excellence in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal research. If you are eligible and wish to be considered, please complete the relevant eligibility form and upload it during submission.

New Investigator Award
BORS offers a New Investigator Award at the Annual Meeting for the best podium presentation delivered by an eligible new investigator.
If you are eligible and would like to be considered for this award, please download the eligibility form from the BORS website and upload the completed form below.

Andrew Sprowson Award for Translational Research
Award for best podium presentation detailing translational research. Please state if you would like to be considered for this award. Note: BORS membership at the time of applying and during the annual meeting is an eligibility requirement.

Best Poster Presentation Award
This award is presented for the best poster presentation at the BORS Annual Meeting.
All submitted abstracts selected for poster presentation will automatically be considered.
No additional application or eligibility form is required.
